The Values Centre website was created by Barrett Values Centre to provide information on the application of the Barrett Seven Levels of Consciousness Model and the Cultural Transformation Tools ® to the cultural transformation of corporations, non-profits, NGO’s, government institutions, schools, communities and nations, as well to provide details on the use of the model and tools for personal transformation and leadership development.
Barrett Values Centre was created in June 1997 to support leaders in building values-driven organisations. Since then, Barrett Values Centre has created a series of Cultural Transformation Tools ® (CTT) for mapping values, measuring cultural capital, and implementing cultural transformation.
At the heart of the Cultural Transformation Tools ® lies the Barrett Seven Levels of Consciousness Model developed by Richard Barrett. The model is used to map the personal values of employees and their perception of the current and desired culture values of the organisation. The model is also used to map the values of teams and any other group of individuals who share a common heritage or purpose. The specific application of this model to corporations, government agencies, non-profits, NGO’s, schools, classrooms, nations and communities can be found on this website.
Between June 1997 and December 2008, the Cultural Transformation Tools ® were used to map the values of 1000+ organizations in 59 countries. The tools are available in 18 languages. More than 1800 Organization Development (OD) consultants and Human Resource (HR) professionals from 59 countries have been trained in the use of the Cultural Transformation Tools ®. A full description of the Cultural Transformation Tools ® can be found on this website and in Liberating the Corporate Soul: Building a Visionary Organization, written by Richard Barrett and published by Butterworth-Heinemann in 1998.
Barrett Values Centre is one of the few companies in the world to provide OD consultants and HR professionals with training opportunities in topics such as cultural assessment and how to implement cultural transformation. A full description of these training opportunities is provided on this website.
Every year, Barrett Values Centre holds a global conference for CTT users and their clients to share knowledge and latest thinking in the application of the Cultural Transformation Tools ® for implementing cultural transformation. Companies that have presented at this conference include Australia New Zealand Bank (ANZ), Volvo, Nortel, CIBC, Wegmans (voted the #1 company to work for in the USA in 2005), Sterling Bank, HearthStone Homes, and Gazely Properties.
One of the ways that Barrett Values Centre supports the implementation of cultural transformation is through the Values-Based Leadership: Business Simulation. The business simulation provides leaders and managers with a detailed understanding of the linkages between values, culture and the bottom-line. Facilitator training is available for those who want to bring the business simulation to their clients or to introduce it as part of a leadership development programme. The simulation is also being used in universities to give business students hands-on-experience of running a values-driven company.
In addition to serving the training needs of cultural transformation practitioners all over the world, Barrett Values Centre supports its own client base of large, medium and small companies in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and South America. Some of the results obtained by these clients are described in the case studies.
Barrett Values Centre is committed to be at the leading edge of cultural transformation. Between November 2003 and June 2005, Barrett Values Centre pioneered the development of a whole system approach to cultural transformation. The whole system approach to cultural transformation is based on the four quadrant integral model.
